The meaning of the kalanit
The kalanit is the red anemone, a beloved flower whose seasonal blooms transform the fields of southern Israel. Deeply associated with the Western Negev, it evokes the landscape, homes, and communities of the region.
Since October 7, 2023, the kalanit has taken on a profound meaning as a symbol of remembrance and resilience. Its red petals honor lives lost and the communities forever changed, including those touched by the attack at the Nova music festival.
